Ahead of the release of his debut self-titled Weird World album on 15 June, the Helsinki (Finland) tram driver cum pop-artist Jaakko Eino Kalevi has shared a new single from his record — ‘Hush Down’.
‘Hush Down’ is another excellent example of Jaakko’s hypnotic idiosyncrasies — it’s a spellbinding pop song sparkling with flashes of technicolour and fortified with that signature dreamlike wonder.
Further to that, Jaakko has also announced that he will be playing in the UK later this month — which includes an album launch show at Courtyard Theatre in London — and he will be heading out with Unknown Mortal Orchestra on all of their dates across the UK and Europe this September.

This is crisp and neat, with a reggae-ish rhythm and plump little bass notes that seem plucked by nobby fingers.
The voice flicks from gold-amber to dark umber — as if controlled by a switch.
We prefer the darker sounds that seem gravelled & hoarsey… But the notes that are fairer and higher have their place too. And sometimes the words are only spoken. Just-uttered, like throw-away whispers.
The composition is skillfully braided with beautiful plying and lots of inflatable upholstery.
Ingenuous and ultimately pleasurable soft-pop from an idiosyncratic wizard of world beats…
