ANNA OF THE NORTH [Anna Lotterud] is a Gjøvik born electro / dream-pop songwriter and songwriter from Norway who moved to Melbourne, Australia.

Her time in Australia was satisfactory but destructive. She fell in love, only to have her heart broken as suddenly and incomprehensibly as her decision to leave Norway in the first place.
Then she linked-up with New Zealand-born producer Brady Daniell-Smith. He jokingly started calling her “Anna of the North” and the name stuck.
Today she reveals the track ‘Someone’, the second single to be taken from the highly anticipated debut album “Lovers.”
Anna also lends her vocals to a new track by Tyler, The Creator available today and titled 911 / Mr. Lonely, the track also features Frank Ocean and Steve Lacey.

Speaking about ‘Someone’ she said: “We think almost everyone has woken up after a big night, instantly regretting something that happened. It’s about how easy it is to break your promises when you’ve had a couple of drinks. Going deeper, the song is about accepting that you’re only human and to learn how to forgive yourself for your own mistakes and accepting that sometimes we need someone to save us from repeating any old habits.”
We had a listen:
This is a surge of foaming emotion, an oscillation of pluming synth, a generous tufting of rhythm and has the sheerest topknot voice on the circuit.
Yes, to be fair, it’s an icy variant of California Gurls by Katy Perry. But no less likeable in spite of all that.
