Helsinki (Finland) and now Berlin-based world-music artist Jaakko Eino Kalevi creates what we have described in the past as — “Euro-pop fantasies… With chemically efficient vocals, jaunty accompaniments, and unusually adept expressionism…”
Following the release of his critically acclaimed self-titled album via Weird World earlier this year, as well as a sold out June tour — Jaakko has now shared a new track called ‘Letter’ which is a song by the legendary Finnish band Kukka and was written by Tuomas Toiviainen.
This special track is released ahead of a long tour [dates below].
We had a listen:
The rhythms seem softly dappled and perhaps a little upset.
The voice is lively yet sullen… It is compliant with the synth-led accompaniment.
Jaakko retains his distinctively dark & gloomy edge, whilst treading cautiously through the popping beats.
